Neerim District Secondary College Core Values

Neerim District Secondary College is a small secondary college of approximately 140 students. The college services the picturesque, thriving townships of Neerim South, Noojee, Jindivick, Buln Buln, Drouin West and the surrounding district. The local industries include agriculture, forestry and tourism based around skiing, bushwalking, food and wine.

The college guiding mantra, "show respect, be committed and work together"  describes the fundamental behaviours for staff and students. The college works to build a safe, nurturing and positive school environment that will enable all students to achieve to their full potential: academically, socially, physically and emotionally.

The college curriculum values diversity and excellence. A range of activities supplements the formal curriculum. Students have opportunities to become involved in college bands, sporting teams, public speaking competitions and SRC. The college encourages students to undertake leadership roles such as: school, house and home group captains. Excursions, writing workshops, the debutante ball and camps all provide opportunities to build relationships and enhance learning.

The talents of all students are recognised and nurtured. Those with special needs receive individualised attention and support. Success is celebrated at all levels, including the academic, sporting, leadership, artistic and musical domains. The college acknowledges these achievements using various measures and venues including: school assemblies, presentation night, the college newsletter and, more recently, our good news postcards.

The college community continually strives to build wider community respect by providing a rigorous academic education, a diversity of curriculum and co-curricula opportunites. Neerim District Secondary College provides support for all individuals and a caring, safe school environment that has strong ties to the local community.
